Witches on the Run?

Witches on the RunAs I am finishing up final drafts of Burning Religion, I came across the section on witchcraft allegations in Africa, particularly by the famous Nigerian lady apostle Helen Ukpabio. The website of her Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries is no longer live, but back in November 2013, I pulled this advertisement from the page when it was still live. Perhaps most chilling is the question in the body of text beneath the photo. “Is your family sold out to witches?”

Helen Ukpabio has made her living scaring the Hell out of people, or at least trying to. The already struggling African continent does not need this kind of Christianity. Periodically she travels to the UK. Getting wind of this, people have been protesting her appearances. Late last year, her “Gospel campaign” was shortened from 3 weeks to 2 days due to protestors, and supposedly she was kicked out of the country. I don’t know if there is any country where she should be allowed to remain. Whatever state will keep her, will become the state of confusion, and as we know, “God is not the author of confusion.”

Who’s on the run now?
